The first city to be named European Capital of Culture twice, in 1995 and 2007. The theme ‘migration’, which is intimately linked to the experience of the Greater Region became a sort of backbone for the body of projects in the 2007 programme.

Sibiu2007 had the theme of “city of culture. city of cultures”, which embodied Sibiu's mixing of different cultures in the Transylvanian region.
