The European Commission has chosen a consortium to implement the 4 years action (Music Moves Europe - Strengthening the dialogue on music). It is led by Eurosonic Noorderslag (the Netherlands), together with ARTmania (Romania), Linecheck (Italy), MaMa (France), Reeperbahn Festival (Germany) and Tallinn Music Week (Estonia).

The consortium will organise 2 EU conferences on the main developments in the music sector for policy makers and European stakeholders. They will also organise a series of Music Moves Europe dialogue meetings at major music conferences in Europe, to strengthen the exchange on EU related matters (policies impacting on music, funding opportunities, etc.) within the music sector and with its professionals.

The first dialogue session to be organised under the new action is planned to take place at Tallinn Music Week 2023, on 11-14 May. The first of the 2 EU level conferences is planned to be organised in the second semester 2023.

This action will allow raising awareness on EU developments and their impact on the sector. It will also allow the Commission to provide information on the opportunities of EU policies and programmes to help the sector flourish and address its challenges and to get informed about and exchange on latest developments in the industry. Another element of the action will be to come up with a conceptual framework definition of the term “music ecosystem”.

European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Education and Culture, Mariya Gabriel said:

This action will complement our existing communication channels with the music sector. I am convinced that it will bring a useful contribution to our continued efforts – under the Music Moves Europe initiative - to provide targeted support to the sector, its professionals and musicians. I remain committed to help this sector recover from the Covid-19 crisis and cope with ongoing and new challenges, from the green and digital transitions to the challenges posed by the energy crisis.
