The theme of Liverpool 2008 was 'the world in one city' explored through three lenses: 'yesterday, today and tomorrow'.
Stavanger
The theme used "Open Port", which could be understood by its English meaning of 'an open harbour', and the Norwegian meaning of 'an open gate', implied openness towards the world and inclusion towards art, ideas and opportunities.
