Pader Urban River Landscape (Germany)
The Pader Urban River Landscape is a thematic European Heritage Label site that interprets Europe’s long and shared history of living with water through a concentrated urban river system. Although located in Paderborn, the site brings together many places along the Pader river to address water management, technical innovation and sustainable use as a common European challenge.
Through its European Heritage Label action plan, the site functions as a European laboratory for water culture, connecting heritage, science, education and civic engagement. The “Pader for Europe” programme links local learning sites to European universities, cultural institutions and Erasmus+ projects, sharing knowledge across borders on sustainable urban water management. By combining multilingual digital tools, immersive technologies and education programmes for young people, the site contributes to Europe as a shared space of ecological responsibility, historical awareness and sustainable futures.
