2024-2025 Young European Heritage Makers Competition open
Young participants from 12 European countries are invited to explore their heritage and share their creative interpretations of this year’s theme: heritage of routes, networks, and connections.
The organisers of the Young European Heritage Makers Competition are calling on participants aged 6-17, from 12 European countries to explore their heritage and share their creative interpretations of this year’s theme, “Heritage of Routes, Networks, and Connections.”
Whether it’s historical trade routes, cultural exchanges, or modern-day digital networks, this theme encourages participants to reflect on how interconnected Europe’s heritage truly is.

The competition invites children and young people from
- Armenia
- Finland
- Ireland
- Italy
- North Macedonia
- Montenegro
- Serbia
- Slovenia
- Spain
- Portugal
- Poland
- Ukraine
to participate.
Entries can be submitted in two age categories: 6-11 years and 11-17 years. Projects can be presented through a variety of creative forms, including short videos, photos, paintings, or written descriptions.
Purpose of the Young European Heritage Makers Competition
Those participating will not only explore their local heritage but also contribute to the larger European narrative, reinforcing the shared identity of Europe. Through this competition, the next generation of Europeans can take an active role in the preservation and celebration of cultural heritage, fostering a deeper sense of belonging and connection.
