Armenia joins Creative Europe

On 20 March 2018 Commissioner Navracsics and the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Amiryan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the participation of Armenia in Creative Europe.

On the occasion of the signature ceremony, Commissioner Navracsics welcomed this new opportunity to strengthen EU-Armenia cooperation through culture. The signing of this agreement is one of the concrete deliverables of the EU strategy for international cultural relations. It represents a major step forward in fostering the EU-Eastern Partnership as Armenia is the fourth country, after Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, to join Creative Europe.

The agreement will now have to be ratified by the Armenian Parliament before the Armenian cultural organisations can participate in the 2018 calls for proposals of the Creative Europe programme.

Armenia has joined the Culture sub-programme and is part of the Cross-sectoral strand of Creative Europe. The agreement is an important achievement in the framework of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement signed in November 2017.

Welcome Armenia and good luck to all Armenian cultural organisations!
