They are all climate friendly solutions designed for their specific context. These places bring people together while valuing the unique character of the local area and its urban surroundings.

Real life examples of good practices to follow

These good practices and many more are now featured in the new catalogue “Cities and regions driving high-quality architecture”.

The catalogue is aimed at local and regional authorities, architecture and urban planning professionals, and anyone interested in quality, sustainable and inclusive built environment.

The catalogue features 30 documented examples from 17 European countries with information on management, budget and transferable ideas to inspire other cities and regions to implement their own projects.

Living Spaces: an opportunity to learn from each other

This catalogue is developed as part of Living Spaces - Cities and regions shaping the built environment for everyone, the European peer-learning programme on high-quality architecture and built environment.

Part of the European architectural policy, the programme follows up on the recommendation of the Member states experts’ group on high-quality  architecture for everyone to build capacity at local and regional level.

The practices featured in this catalogue are examples from the ground, selected through a call for good practices. They demonstrate the expertise and creativity of European cities and regions in shaping a high-quality living environment for everyone.

Follow up opportunities

12 peer-learning visits will be organised in 2024 to learn more about some of the examples from the catalogue. The visits will be open to participants from European countries in the coming weeks through a call for participation.
