Creative Europe Networks' second focus meeting on heritage for the future
Creative Europe Networks reinforced the role of culture and heritage for a robust democracy at 2023 Cultural Heritage Summit.
On 27 September, the European Commission, the European Education and Culture Executive Agency and Europa Nostra hosted the second Creative Europe Networks focus meeting. It was held during the European Cultural Heritage Summit 2023 in Venice.
The focus of the meeting was on “heritage for the future: European values, citizenship and sense of belonging through cultural heritage”. Some 60 participants, including representatives of 11 Creative Europe Networks, were present.
The discussion focused on
- the role culture and heritage play in strengthening European values and citizenship and furthering a sense of belonging to a wider community
- how education can help strengthen civic engagement in democracy
Background
This is the second of a series of meetings that explore key policy issues linked to the Creative Europe programme and other challenges that Europe faces today. The first meeting took place in Lyon in May 2023.
With the focus meetings, the executive agency wants to facilitate policy dialogue between the supported networks, the cultural sector at large and the European institutions.
