Cultural Heritage in Action concludes with valuable outcomes for cities and regions

The peer-learning scheme for cities and regions on cultural heritage presents a digital toolbox, a catalogue of good practices and a thematic analysis as its outcomes.

Cultural Heritage in Action

The purpose of Cultural Heritage in Action, the project that ran between January 2020 and January 2023 was to improve the management of cultural heritage sites through participatory governance and enhance citizens' participation and contribution to the preservation and development of heritage sites.

The project also promoted cultural heritage as a tool for local sustainable development and explored new roles for local and regional authorities in governance and financing.

Cultural Heritage in Action focused on the recovery and resilience of cultural heritage sites in a post-pandemic world, recognizing the importance of cultural heritage in promoting well-being and social cohesion.

The project also focused on the adaptive reuse of heritage buildings and the quality of interventions on cultural heritage.

Outcomes of Cultural Heritage in Action

Over the last three years, the project brought together hundreds of local policy-makers, cultural heritage specialists, and practitioners and facilitated peer-learning activities.

Background

Eurocities, in collaboration with KEA, ERRIN, Europa Nostra, and the Architects Council of Europe implemented the project. It was financed by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
