Ten ideas for European Houses of Culture selected by EUNIC
Ten ideas for European Houses of Culture have been selected to be developed into cultural relations projects for 2020. This endeavour is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme.
In April, European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) members, EU delegations and their local cultural partners in third countries were invited to take part in a call for ideas for collaborations in cultural relations. The aim was to highlight promising cultural initiatives focusing on people-to-people approaches, co-creation and showcasing of cultural diversity. The 44 applications covered 51 countries in total from El Salvador to Benin to Vietnam.
The selected projects cover a range of cultural activities from theatre, festivals and technology all with the aim of fostering cultural exchanges and increasing cultural and artistic engagement of the public.
The selected project teams are now invited to further develop their ideas into concrete proposals for projects taking place between March and October 2020. On 30 September and 1 October representatives of the project teams will come together in Creative Labs in Brussels to discuss the process, their partnerships and evaluation models in order to contribute to defining the concept of European Houses of Culture.
The deadline for submission of their project proposals for phase 2 is 15 December 2019.
