Creative Europe awards over €5.5 million to support the translation, publication, and promotion of 499 European works of fiction reaching readers across Europe and beyond.
46 projects, comprising a total of 499 works of fiction, have been selected for translation from 36 into 24 languages, with a prevalence of youth literature and novels. In the next three years, these works will be published, promoted, and made available to readers across Europe and beyond, showcasing the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of European literature.
Creative Europe: promoting collaboration and exchange
Out of 189 submissions, 46 proposals were selected for funding, guaranteeing support to the highest-quality projects. Involving 76 organisations from 23 Creative Europe countries, including Ukraine, these initiatives reflect the programme's dedication to promoting collaboration and exchange.
The selected projects directly contribute to the current cultural policy priorities, promoting reading, linguistic and cultural diversity, and supporting the profession of literary translators.
These projects are also in line with the EU's efforts in terms of greening, digital transition, inclusion, and gender equality, as well as international cooperation, which demonstrates the programme's commitment to promoting a sustainable and inclusive cultural sector.
Other EU initiatives in the book sector include the European Authors Day and the European Union Prize for Literature, resulting in a comprehensive ecosystem that supports the entire book value chain.
