Help develop the Commission’s AI strategy for the Cultural and Creative Sectors

The opportunities and challenges presented by AI in the CCS are complex, spanning technical, economic and societal dimensions. This call for evidence aims to gather information and stakeholders’ views to help develop a strategy that will ensure AI complements, rather than replaces, human creativity; supports broader access to culture and knowledge; and contributes to a fair, sustainable, innovative and competitive European creative economy.

The consultation is open in all EU languages to anyone, including artists, creators, rights holders, professional associations, AI providers, developers, researchers and public authorities with cultural and AI policy expertise, as well as members of the public with an interest in the future of culture and creativity in the age of AI.

Background

The initiative is one of 20 flagship actions announced in the Culture Compass for Europe, and aligns with the principles of the Joint Declaration “Europe for Culture – Culture for Europe”. It sets out the importance of embracing digital transformation, including artificial intelligence (AI), for the benefit of European CCS. The initiative also builds on the apply AI strategy and it will also be closely aligned with the Commission’s ongoing work on copyright.
