European platforms for the promotion of emerging artists

Empowering new talent across Europe’s creative landscape

This Creative Europe funding action supports transnational platforms that identify and support emerging artists, encourage the cross-border circulation of their works and strengthen their presence on the European and international artistic scene.

What is the purpose of European platforms?

The goal of the European platforms is to help the development of emerging artists and cultural professionals.

This includes:

  • improving working conditions, including touring, works presentations and circulation, and fair remuneration
  • integrating culture more deeply into civic and public life
  • expanding access, participation, and international exposure

By doing so, the platforms contribute to key EU cultural policy priorities and affirm the vital role of culture in society.

Themes and priorities

Platforms are guided by core European values: artistic freedom, diversity, fairness, inclusion, solidarity and sustainability.

These focus on the following topics:

  • working conditions and fair remuneration for artists and cultural professionals (links to studies and reports)
  • freedom of artistic expression, mobility and cross-border collaboration
  • diversity, equality, inclusion with attention to gender balance and underrepresented groups
  • learning and skills development to ensure relevance to evolving sectors
  • youth engagement and sectorial resilience
  • democracy and solidarity through culture, including support for Ukraine
  • sustainability and climate action

2024 selection highlights

Each project operates on a particular membership model, using a cascade grant mechanism, with an average of 22 member organisations per platform, spanning through 41 countries.

The platforms selected reflect a broad spectrum of Europe’s cultural and creative sectors.

Some platforms explore public spaces, while others connect culture to health, care, and social transformation — operating across a broad and dynamic geography and reflecting Europe’s cultural richness.
