- Budget size:
- Large - above €2 million
- Source of funding:
- Horizon 2020
The project aims to do so by forming a pilot network of innovation and entrepreneurship “Hubs” in eight Historic Urban Areas (HUA). This addresses the problem of abandonment and neglect of historic heritage, whilst creating jobs and sustainable opportunities for local traditional businesses.
The methods and activities of the eight partners will eventually be replicated in other cities. First, the Hubs will test, demonstrate and pilot activities of co-creation and co-design in three thematic areas with potential for sustainable transformation of HUAs:
- Cultural and creative industries
- New lifestyles
- Endogenous Natural & Social Resources
The project’s methodology includes building an ecosystem of interconnected Hubs to accelerate urban regeneration, create value in pilot Hubs to then package and upscale the results and create a collaborative global network of Hubs. The final goal is to create a HUB-IN digital space.
The EU contributed with €7,998,797 to the overall budget. The main coordinator is Lisboa E-Nova, a Portuguese non-profit organisation, supported by 18 other participants, including universities, municipalities, and private companies from across eight different European countries. As this project is still underway, the full results are not yet available.
