Culture Moves Europe: 93 residencies selected

On 6 and 13 September match-making sessions will be organised for artists interested in participating in those projects. Selected hosts have until 30 October to confirm the names of invited artists.

93 cultural organisations have been selected in the third call for residency hosts that closed on 15 May 2024. The total estimated grant is more than €1.1 million with individual grant per project depending on its duration (between 22 and 180 days) and the number of invited artists.

Selected organisations plan to host 309 artists and cultural professionals coming from different Creative Europe countries, who will be selected in the second phase of the procedure.

More residencies in outermost regions

These residency projects will take place in 31 different Creative Europe countries, including in the EU’s outermost regions, Martinique, and the Canary Islands. Italy, Germany, and Poland followed by Spain, France and Portugal are the countries with the highest number of selected residency projects in this round.

More newly established residency projects receive support

Visual arts, music and performing arts are the sectors with the most projects selected. Cultural heritage, design and fashion design, literature, and architecture account for a little over 25% of selected projects all combined. 14% of selected hosts applied with projects that engage with the New European Bauhaus and its values.

Among the selected organizations, only 14% have extensive experience in hosting artists, and many of them are newly established residency projects. 25% of selected hosts have already received support in the previous calls of the Culture Moves Europe residency action but with different projects and participating artists.

59% of hosts indicated that their accommodation/premises are accessible to disabled artists and cultural professionals.

Match-making sessions coming up in September

Selected hosts have until 30 October to confirm the names of artists they are inviting, and the first projects might start already from mid-August.

For artists interested in participating in those projects, online match-making sessions will be organised on 6 and 13 September to bring together residency hosts and participants.

Stay tuned for further updates about the match-making sessions!
