Weimar, the city of Goethe and Schiller, of Bauhaus, of the Classical Foundation of Weimar had two main elements to its Capital of Culture year: to bring back the cultural flavour to the city with massive renovations and to link classical culture to the fact that despite this extraordinary cultural past, outside of Weimar was the horrific concentration camp of Buchenwald.
