Promoting our European way of life

One of the European Commission's 2019-2024 priorities

Slide

Finding connections in cultural diversity

One of the key priorities of the European Commission is to promote our European way of life. This means upholding the rule of law, as well as combating all forms of discrimination, whether on the basis of gender, ethnicity, religion or socio-economic status.

It also means valuing the diversity of our cultural and linguistic heritage, our national games, traditions, festivals, art, music, and our clothes and textiles.

As the Creative Europe programme shows, when we get to experience for ourselves the culture of our neighbours, we realise how much binds us together in a European way of life.

Heritage Hubs

Young people find that their traditions can be lively and fun when they get to make a video about them and then share with others from a different country.

The wonder of discovering another culture first-hand can even be overwhelming.

The Fabric of my Life

For refugee women, clothes and textiles offer a connection with their origins and traditions. A cherished item has the power to unlock memories, trigger family stories and even help to heal the trauma of separation.

Design students and cultural specialists collaborate with these women to celebrate their migrant stories.
