The Košice 2013 project was based on five fundamental thematic lines: “Forward to traditions - forward to roots”, “Open public space”, “Košice’s forces - light, water and sound”, “Living Culture Lab”, “Wandering City”.

More than 900 cultural events were organised throughout the year, which attracted more than 11 million visitors, celebrating the port city. A new 365 km long hiking trail was also created for the occasion, around the Marseille area, uniting countryside and cities.
